Why we made it

A useful answer should be easy to reach

We started Smart Conversion in 2007 with a very ordinary university problem: finding a useful conversion tool should not have been so difficult. We built a simple website to make switching between units quick and dependable. What began as a small practical tool grew into a much larger resource, used by millions of people over the years whenever they needed an answer they could trust.

It is still built around that original idea. Smart Conversion is a lightweight place to explore units, calculations and the scientific thinking behind them without wrestling with a spreadsheet or digging through pages of unrelated results.
